Glossary: Radiation protection fashion & women's clothing

In this glossary We explain key technical terms related to VIP – Very Important Protection, radiation protection textiles, materials and modern women's fashion.

This way you can quickly find out what's behind terms like EMF, shielding fabric, Marlene trousers or flared cut – and better decide which pieces suit your lifestyle.

Shielding clothing (EMF clothing)

Shielding clothing – often also called EMF clothing – is fashion in which conductive materials (e.g., stainless steel fibers or silver yarn) are directly integrated into the fabric. These textiles reduce the coupling of electromagnetic fields to the body and can significantly decrease exposure from radio sources such as 5G, Wi-Fi, LTE, or Bluetooth. With VIP Wear, this is achieved without the shielding being visible from the outside: the garments remain stylish, while the technology is concealed within.

Shielding textile

A shielding fabric is a material that, in addition to traditional fibers (e.g., cotton), contains conductive fibers. These form a kind of "protective shield" that reflects and/or absorbs high-frequency radiation. VIP Wear's collections utilize materials such as stainless steel fibers and silver yarn for this purpose – resulting in a soft, everyday-wearable fabric with integrated protective function.

Shielding / shielding attenuation (in dB)

The effectiveness of radiation-shielding textiles is often expressed in decibels (dB) and is called shielding attenuation. The higher the dB value, the greater the attenuation of the incoming signal: even around 20 dB represents a significant reduction, while values around 40–60 dB indicate very high shielding. Depending on the product and frequency range, VIP textiles achieve attenuation levels that, theoretically, allow for a reduction of up to 99.99% of high-frequency radiation.

Breathability

Breathable fabrics allow water vapor to escape from the inside out without letting wind and cold through. This ensures you sweat less, your skin feels drier, and the clothing remains comfortable even after prolonged wear. This is important for radiation protection clothing so that the integrated shielding materials function not as "stiff armor" but as comfortable everyday wear.

organic cotton

Organic cotton comes from controlled organic farming, where, among other things, synthetic pesticides and genetically modified seeds are avoided. It is soft, skin-friendly, and frequently used for clothing that comes into close contact with the skin. VIP Wear combines organic cotton with shielding technology: for example, in Loungewear set or in turtleneck sweater, which combine both – comfort and radiation protection.

Business Casual

Business casual describes a dress code that falls between classic business attire and a relaxed everyday look. Typical items include trousers, blouses, blazers, or elegant sweaters, combined with understated shoes. Wide-leg trousers, flared trousers, or simple oversized blouses with radiation protection can be excellent components – they look professional, are comfortable, and offer additional technical benefits.

Crop jacket / cropped cut

„"Cropped" means that a garment is cut shorter and usually ends at waist level. Crop jacket It visually accentuates the waist, lengthens the leg line, and thus creates a modern and feminine look. The VIP Crop Jacket combines this urban look in a denim style with integrated 5G protection technology – ideal for the city, office, or travel.

Denim look / Jeans look

Denim or jeans look describes fabrics that look like classic denim but often feel lighter and softer. This gives you the typical casual look without sacrificing freedom of movement and comfort. VIP uses this in various products – such as the Outdoor jacket, the Crop jacket, the Marlene trousers or the bucket hat – on such materials with integrated shielding function against radio waves.

Digital Detox

Digital detox means consciously taking breaks from smartphones, laptops, social media, and the like to relieve stress on your mind and body. Radiation-shielding clothing can support this approach by reducing radio frequency coupling to the body while you're relaxing at home, doing yoga, or traveling, for example. Loungewear set VIP is designed precisely for such moments: comfortable, soft and technically equipped.

Electromagnetic fields (EMF)

Electromagnetic fields (EMF) are generated wherever there is electrical voltage or current – i.e., in power lines, electrical appliances, and wireless applications such as mobile communications, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth. From a physics perspective, EMF are the interaction of electric and magnetic fields; they are classified as non-ionizing radiation.

Electrosmog

Electrosmog is a colloquial term for the sum of artificially generated electromagnetic fields in our environment – for example, from cell phone towers, Wi-Fi routers, Bluetooth devices, smart home technology, and more. Some people want to proactively reduce their personal exposure, for example, through conscious usage patterns or additional shielding measures such as special textiles.

Electrosensitivity

Electrosensitivity refers to people who associate health problems – such as sleep disturbances, headaches, or concentration difficulties – with electromagnetic fields. The cause of these symptoms remains a subject of debate in scientific studies; however, those affected often report improvement when they reduce their EMF exposure. Protective clothing can be a component of a personal protection strategy in this regard.

Stainless steel fibers

Stainless steel fibers are extremely fine fibers made of rust-free steel that are incorporated into textiles. They are conductive and therefore ideally suited for shielding electromagnetic fields: they reflect and disperse the incoming radiation within the textile layer. In VIP textiles, stainless steel fibers form an invisible shield, while the fabric remains soft and comfortable to wear.

Faraday cage

A Faraday cage is a closed enclosure made of conductive material that shields against electric fields and protects the interior from external electromagnetic interference. Radiation-shielding textiles work on a similar physical principle – only in a "softer" form: A network of conductive fibers within the fabric reduces the field strength at the body without compromising comfort.

Bucket hat

The bucket hat A bucket hat is a round-shaped hat with a downward-sloping brim. Originally used as a functional accessory in outdoor and streetwear, it is now a fashion classic. The VIP bucket hat in a denim look combines this trend with integrated 5G radiation protection technology and is suitable for urban outfits as well as festivals or travel.

Flared Cut

Flared cut refers to a style of trousers where the legs widen from the knee downwards – similar to subtle flared trousers. This cut creates a feminine, elongating silhouette and can be combined in a variety of ways, both in the office and in leisure time. Flared-cut trousers VIP combines this fashion classic with integrated shielding against electromagnetic radiation.

High-waist

High-waisted means that the waistband of trousers sits higher, usually above the natural waistline. This emphasizes the midsection, visually lengthens the legs, and looks particularly elegant. Both the Marlene trousers as well as the Flared-cut trousers VIP uses this cut to combine a flattering silhouette with functional radiation protection.

jersey

Jersey is an elastic, soft, flowing knit fabric, originally made from wool, but today mostly from cotton or blended yarns. It is stretchy, retains its shape, and feels pleasant against the skin, making it ideal for sweaters, shirts, and loungewear. (VIP) turtleneck sweater A lightweight jersey made of organic cotton is used, combined with silver yarn for EMF shielding.

Layering

Layering refers to wearing several layers of clothing on top of each other – for example, a top, blouse, sweater, and jacket. This allows you to flexibly adapt your look to the temperature, occasion, and style. Radiation-shielding clothing is ideal for layering, for example, if you are wearing a [missing information - likely a specific type of clothing or garment]. turtleneck sweater under a Outdoor jacket you wear or combine an oversized blouse with protective trousers.

Loungewear

Loungewear is clothing for relaxing: comfortable enough for the sofa and home office, yet stylish enough to wear out for a quick stroll. Typical features include soft fabrics, relaxed cuts, and sets consisting of sweaters and trousers. Loungewear set VIP's product is made from organic cotton, feels pleasantly soft to wear and offers integrated protection against high-frequency radiation – ideal for home office, travel, yoga or digital detox.

Marlene trousers

The Marlene trousers The Marlene trousers are a classic in women's fashion, inspired by Marlene Dietrich: wide legs, a high waist, and a flowing, elegant silhouette. They exude both timelessness and confidence, making them a perfect fit for business and smart-casual outfits. The VIP Marlene trousers offer a fresh take on this look – in a modern high-waisted style with integrated radiation-shielding fabric.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100

The OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is a globally recognized label for textiles that have been tested for harmful substances. Only products in which all components – from yarn to button – comply with defined limits for hundreds of substances receive this certificate. Many of the base fabrics used in radiation protection clothing are STANDARD 100 certified to offer a high level of product safety in addition to their technical functionality.

Outdoor jacket

Outdoor jackets are robust jackets designed for outdoor use – focusing on protection, functionality, and freedom of movement. They are usually wind and weather resistant and offer practical features such as hoods, pockets, or adjustable cuffs. The VIP Outdoor jacket combines this functional thinking with integrated 5G radiation protection technology and stainless-steel-based shielding, achieving up to 99.99 % radiation reduction in the relevant frequency range.

Oversized blouse

An oversized blouse is intentionally cut wider and looser than classic blouse styles. It drapes casually over the shoulders and hips, offers plenty of freedom of movement, and can be styled in many ways – from casual to business. Oversized blouses VIP combines this interplay of volume and silhouette with an integrated shielding textile that can reduce radiation exposure without the protection being visible in everyday life.

Turtleneck / Turtleneck sweater

A roll neck is a high, folded-over collar that completely encloses the neck area. A roll neck sweater keeps the neck, nape, and upper chest area particularly warm and can look elegant or casual depending on how it's styled. The VIP turtleneck sweater This cut also provides radiation protection: Silver yarn is incorporated into the organic cotton fabric, offering EMF protection, especially in the neck, chest and heart region.

Silver thread

Silver yarn is a yarn in which the fiber itself is made of silver or coated with silver. Silver is conductive and also has antimicrobial properties – therefore, silver yarn is used in technical textiles as well as in functional and sportswear. It is also used in radiation-shielding fashion such as VIP. turtleneck sweater Silver yarn forms a conductive structure in the fabric that can reflect high-frequency radiation and thus reduce the field strength on the body.

Street style / Urban design

Street style, or urban design, describes fashion that is geared towards everyday life in the city: casual, functional, often inspired by sportswear or workwear, and at the same time very stylish. Jackets, bucket hats, wide-legged trousers, and cropped jackets with a denim look are typical elements of this style. VIP Wear follows precisely this approach: clothing that blends seamlessly into everyday urban life – with the added benefit of integrated radiation protection technology.

Radiation protection / 5G radiation protection

Radiation protection here specifically refers to the reduction of high-frequency electromagnetic fields, such as those generated by 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth. Shielding textiles with conductive fibers can significantly reduce field strength in certain frequency ranges; depending on the material and construction, shielding values of over 99 % are possible. VIP products utilize this technology to reduce exposure to radio frequency coupling in everyday life – in trousers, jackets, sweaters, loungewear, and accessories.
